What this site is

The site is a free tool that gives you a planning estimate of how many solar panels and what size battery a home might need, and a rough price and payback period, based on the answers and assumptions you provide.

It is not a formal quote, a professional site assessment, or personalized financial, engineering or investment advice. It's a starting point to help you shop and compare — see the calculator's own Assumptions section for exactly what's baked into the numbers.

No warranty, use at your own risk

The site is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We make reasonable efforts to keep the estimates useful, but we don't guarantee that any figure shown — panel count, battery size, price, or payback period — is accurate, complete, or achievable for your specific home.

Actual results depend on factors the calculator can't see, including your roof's condition, shading, orientation, local regulations, installer pricing, and equipment availability. Get quotes from licensed installers before making any purchasing decision.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tim Johnson and Johnson Energy Consulting are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site or the estimates it produces — including decisions to purchase, finance, or forgo a solar or battery system.
